Abstract |
The report reviews the water pollution problems in the Long Island Region, which consists of Nassau and Suffolk Counties in New York State. The discharge of waste from municipalities and numerous other sources degrades water quality and prevents full utilization of this natural resource throughout the Region. The purpose of the report is to delineate those actions which should be undertaken immediately to prevent further degradation of these waters. Such actions include not only construction of new or improved municipal and industrial waste treatment facilities, but also those studies, surveys and research which must be completed prior to development of sound water quality management programs for the future. |
