Abstract |
The 8.5-acre Rowe Industries Groundwater Contamination site is located in the Town of Sag Harbor, Suffolk County, New York. From the 1950's to the 1960's, Rowe Industries occupied the site and manufactured small electric motors and transformers. Chlorinated solvents were used to degrease oil-coated metals, and waste solvents were discharged from two tanks in the building into cesspools or to an open field 75 to 100 feet east of the building. The ROD addresses a final remedy for the contamination in soil and ground water attributable to the site. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the soil and ground water are VOCs, including benzene, PCE, TCE, toluene, and xylenes; and metals, including arsenic, chromium, and lead. |
