| Abstract |
The primary goals of the workshops were to present the most advanced research and policies on hospital waste incineration being pursued in the regulatory sector, encourage the formation of networks among those involved, and improve permitting and enforcement through exchange of information. Hospital waste sterilization was also included because it is a related source of increasing regulatory concern. The agenda was specifically structured to provide insight into the magnitude and nature of the problems associated with these sources, and the responsive actions taken by State and local agencies to develop regulations and issue permits. |
