Abstract The paper gives results of a modeling assessment of the indoor radon reductions possible through the use of improved radon resistant membranes. The analysis focuses on quantifying the impacts on indoor radon concentrations of using improved radon diffusion-resistant membranes for a typical experimentally determined range of membrane radon diffusion coefficients. The evaluation considers the application of radon resistant membranes to slab-on-grade construction typical of Florida and source strengths and site conditions typical of Florida. It discusses guidance for the extrapolation of findings to non-Florida construction and site conditions.
