| Abstract |
This report on public water system (PWSs) compliance is mandated by the 1996 SDWA Amendments for the 1996 calendar year. This report finds that the vast majority of people received water from systems that reported no violations of maximum contaminant levels (MCLs). The document also discusses the activities that EPA has pursued since the passage of the 1996 Amendments in order to ensure all systems, particularly small ones, are in compliance with existing drinking water standards. Appendix B contains summaries of state annual compliance reports. |
