Abstract Subdivision R, a Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) guideline, prescribes spray drift evaluation protocols that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recommends to support the registration of formulated end-use products. This subdivision establishes procedures for testing and data submission concerning the evaluation of pesticide spray drift. The studies outlined by this subdivision will not be required for every product but only for selected chemicals based on their toxicity and use pattern. A summary of the rulemaking spray drift evaluation test requirements can be found in 40 CFR 158. The results of the spray drift studies together with the toxicity evaluation of the chemical to humans and nontarget animals and plants are used to assess the potential hazard of pesticides to these nontarget organisms. Subdivision R constitutes an additional volume to the original guideline series published by the National Technical Information Service.
