Abstract |
The flow patterns and mixing, or dispersing, characteristics of storage impoundments must be investigated to determine the effects of the reservoirs on water quality and to determine the methods of operating, or controlling, the reservoirs to produce the highest water quality. The most promising methods for studying the mixing characteristics and flow patterns of reservoirs entails the use of a conservative or semiconservative tracer. Furthermore, the fluorescent tracers appear to be the most practical for these studies. It is the purpose of the investigation to demonstrate the usefulness of these tracers. |
