| Abstract |
The report summarizes the accomplishments of the Federal/State/Local Nonpoint Source Task Force. In recognition of the many agencies involved in managing nonpoint source (NPS) pollution and the need for coordination among these agencies, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) convened the Task Force in March 1984. The Task Force developed a recommended National Nonpoint Source Policy and implementation strategies to carry out the goals of the policy. The report of the Task Force provides a brief overview of the NPS problem including defining nonpoint sources and the nature and scope of the NPS problem; it describes the steps involved in developing and implementing the National Nonpoint Source Policy; and it contains a copy of the recommended National Nonpoint Source Policy and summaries of agency implementation strategies. |
