Abstract The combined effects of ultraviolet-B radiation and water stress were investigated on the water relations of greenhouse grown soybean. Since environmental conditions in growth chambers are usua lly unlike those found in the field, the authors are not yet able to reliably assess the impact of UV-B radiation enhancement under natural conditions. The purpose of this study was to further examine the interactions between UV-B radiation and water stress by studying their combined effects on stomatal co nductance, leaf water potential and internal water relations parameters. Elucidation of the relationship between tissue water content and tissue water potential, along with component osmotic and turgor potentials, is required to understand how plants respond to water stress.
