Abstract

This document presents the findings of studies of the organic chemicals and plastics and synthetic fibers manufacturing point source category for the purpose of developing effluent limitations guidelines for existing point sources. Effluent limitations guidelines proposed herein are for 'best practicable technology', 'best conventional technology', and 'best available technology', new source performance standards and pretreatment standards. This document contains the supporting data and rationale for development of the effluent limitations and guidelines including subcategorization schemes, wastewater characteristics, treatment technologies and costs.
