Abstract The present study was undertaken to compare several NO2 monitoring methods based on field data collected by EPA. Three continuous monitors (Chemiluminescent and two Saltzmans) and six bubblers (two Arsenite, two modifications of the Jacobs Hochheiser, and two Triethanolamine methods were investigated. In particular, objectives of the project were (a) to determine the comparability of these nine methods using field measurements obtained in Chattanooga, Los Angeles, and St. Louis and (b) to determine, if possible, conversion factors for converting readings from one method to another. The criteria used in attempting to satisfy these objectives involved examining statistics such as correlations between methods, ratios of method means, and regression relationships between pairs of methods.
