| Abstract |
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is adopting requirements to reduce emissions of particulate matter (PM), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), and air toxics from nonroad diesel engines. This rule includes emission standards for new nonroad diesel engines. The rule also reduces the level of sulfur for diesel fuels used in nonroad engines, locomotive engines, and marine engines. The reduction in sulfur for nonroad diesel fuel will enable the use of advanced emission-control technology that new nonroad diesel engines will use to achieve the emission reductions called for under the engine standards in this final rule. In addition, the reduction in sulfur will provide important public health and welfare benefits by reducing emissions of PM and SO2 from nonroad, locomotive and marine diesel engines. |
