| Abstract |
A tiered level-of-effort testing was applied. The Level I procedure sorted the polymers according to specified desired properties; Level II testing provided information for selecting the most promising polymers for trapping of vapor-phase organics and generated the chemical data base relating chemical and physical sorbent properties; and Level III experiments provided a confirmation of the physiochemical properties of the sorbent. Thermodynamic properties and correlations between chemical structure and physical properties were made for four of the more promising polyimide sorbents and compared to Tenax GC, the reference sorbent. |
