| Abstract |
Samples of the old formulation of Chlorothene plus mineral oil or Dowanol EF were submitted for toxicological comparison with Chlorothene. Chlorothene NU plus 2.5% Dowano1 EP was also submitted. It was postulated that possibly the addition of the lubricants would reduce the whitening of the skin which occurs when Chlorothene is in contact for extended periods of time. The results are summarized in the table. As you can see the results indicate no practical difference in response from the modified samples which would recommend their use over the unmodified samples. Hence, if the customer wants the formulations with mineral oil or Dowanol EP there seems to be no reason not to supply them although it seems doubtful it will reduce the irritation produced by prolonged contact with the solvent. |
