Abstract The Directory of Public Libraries is a compilation of over 2,300 libraries designated by each State's Librarian to receive their state's microfiche containing data collected under Section 313 (j) of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) Title III of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986--Public Law 99-499. Section 313 (j) of EPCRA requires EPA to establish the National Toxic Chemical Release Inventory (TRI) and to make the data/information collected annually available to the public through computer telecommunications and other means. TRI is distributed, sold and available in many different forms--online through the National Library of Medicine, CD-ROM, dBase, and Lotus floppy diskettes, microfiche, magnetic tape. It is accessible to the public in one or more of these forms from thousands of locations nationwide, as well as several international locations, of which this Directory identifies over 40% of those locations.
