Abstract |
This decision document presents the selected remedial action for the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Mercury Dump, Site 48. The remedial investigation (RI) and the risk assessments (RAs) conducted for Site 48 support a no action remedial alternative. The RI and RAs addressed all media at the site, and therefore, no other actions will be considered for Site 48. The selected remedy is protective of human health and the environment, complies with Federal and State requirements that are legally applicable or relevant and appropriate to the remedial action, and is cost-effective. The statutory preference for treatment is not satisfied because no treatment was necessary for the protection of human health and the environment. Contaminant levels detected in the media at the site were found to present no imminent or substantial threat to human health or the environment. A five-year review will not be necessary for the site. |
