Abstract This report is a comprehensive review of management practices involving silvicultural chemicals, and evaluates these in relation to both water quality and silvicultural objectives. It presents an array of procedures and best practices that permit reaching management goals with negligible impact on water quality. The report discusses the general scope of chemical usage in the practice of silviculture, presents criteria for limiting concentrations of chemicals in water, covers behavior of chemicals used in silviculture operations and presents pollution control guidelines.
