Abstract The objective of the Alabama Emergency Episode Plan is to prevent the occurrence of adverse pollutant levels and is designed for the emergency control of the following pollutants: total suspended particulates; oxides of sulfur, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, photochemical oxidants, and total hydrocarbons. The plan is viewed as a mechanism for reducing high pollution levels by reducing source emissions in a well-structured manner. It is definitive with regard to sources in existence at the date of promulgation. The plan defines measures to be taken by designated agencies and officials of the State of Alabama and cooperating organizations for protection of the health of persons during air pollution episodes. An episode communications manual is included as an appendix to this plan. (Author)
