Abstract |
The report describes the Perrine Primate Research Branch of the Division of Pesticides, Bureau of Science, of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Any general public health problem in the United States that may be a result of pollution of food, water, and/or air by pesticides is one that exists at a low level, with prolonged exposure. In 1965, a nonhuman primate research program was initiated by the Office of Pesticides of the USPHS to investigate any such possible problem. The laboratory is composed of four sections: pharmacology, chemistry, training, and a field station located in Wenatchee, Washington. Only the pharmacology section is directly concerned with nonhuman primates in pesticide research, but there are many areas of overlapping interest and investigative effort among the sections. |
