Abstract |
The booklet explains the complex functions of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) environmental law enforcement mechanism. The structure of the Agency's enforcement apparatus, the methods and the enforcement officials who use them are identified and described. The booklet is designed as a guide for all citizens and can be used as an overview for anyone interested in the environmental enforcement system. It summarizes the government process that enforcement officials use when taking action against someone for not complying with environmental laws and includes discussion about: inspections, criminal investigations, litigation, deterrence and how the individuals of the public can help. |
