Abstract The project consists of an analysis of the EPA Risk Reduction Engineering Laboratory's mobile Volume Reduction Unit. The Demonstration Test took place at the Escambia Treating Company Superfund Site in Pensacola, Florida. The goals of the study, summarized in this Applications Analysis Report, are: (1) to evaluate the technical effectiveness and economics of this technology relative to its ability to treat soils contaminated with organics; and (2) to establish the potential applicability of the process to other wastes and Superfund sites. The primary technical objective of the project is to determine the ability of the process to reduce the concentration of organic contaminants in contaminated soil through particle size separation and solubilization.
