Contents Notes Air pollution emissions from the incineration of hospital waste and medical/infectious waste are regulated by federal rule promulgated to implement the Clean Air Act (CAA) as amended in 1990. This guidance document addresses requirements established by the regulations that have been developed and amended for hospital/medical/infectious waste incinerator(s) (HMIWI) under 111 and 129 of the CAA. 1.0 Introduction -- 2.0 Schedule and responsibilities -- 3.0 Required elements of an acceptable state plan -- 4.0 Requirements for co-fired combustors and incinerators burning only pathological, low-level radioactive, and chemotherapeutic waste -- 5.0 Title V requirements for HMIWI.
