| Abstract |
The rapidly developing field of water pollution control already has stimulated its own special language through origination of new terminology and popularization of other vocabulary formerly reserved for highly technical study. Understanding of this language is necessary for all those wishing to participate both in scientific inquiries and social action designed to solve the world-wide crisis of water pollution today. To help meet this need, the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration of the United States Department of the Interior, in cooperation with the Open Lands Project of Chicago, Illinois, a private conservation and environmental planning organization, has published the following glossary of water pollution control terminology. |
