Abstract

The directory is an annual publication of ongoing research projects in epidemiology selected from the files of the Smithsonian Science Information Exchange (SSIE). Each project summary is categorized by scientific discipline and assigned a unique identification number for cross-referencing from the Directory Indexes--Subject, Investigator, Performing Organization, Supporting Agency, and Master Grant Number. The emphasis of the Directory is on the relationship between a causal factor and the resultant human disease or problem. The cause may be an environmental, chemical, physical, or microbiological hazard, or it may be genetic, social, or behavioral.
