Abstract |
The report gives results of a review of the H-Coal Process of Hydrocarbon Research, Inc., from the standpoint of its effect on the environment. Quantities of solid, liquid, and gaseous effluents are specified, where possible, as well as the thermal efficiency of the process. Techniques for controlling pollution are outlined and discussed. For the purpose of reducing environmental impact, a number of possible modifications or alternatives are presented for consideration. In some areas existing information or control systems are inadequate; therefore, technology needs are pointed out covering such areas, together with approaches to improve efficiency and conservation of energy or water. |
