Abstract The project consisted of three phases: The hydraulics of a concrete lined trapezoidal channel with rectangular side weir outlets, the hydraulics of a semi-portable sheet metal flume with circular outlets, and field tests of a semi-portable sheet metal flume with circular outlets. Discharge relationships were determined for different sizes of rectangular weirs with 45 deg slope. A galvanized sheet metal flume designed for structural stability and hydraulic efficiency was tested to determine roughness coefficients for spatially varied flow. The sheet metal flume design was revised, 710 feet of channel was built, and two years of field tests were conducted to determine performance under field conditions.
