Abstract The J.H. Baxter site is in Weed Siskiyou County, north-central California, and consists of the 33-acre J.H. Baxter facility and the adjacent 870-acre Roseburg Forest Products facility. Since 1937, wood treatment operations at the site have involved a variety of chemicals including ammonical copper-zinc-arsenate, creosote, and PCP. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the soil, sediment, ground water, and surface water are organics including PAHs and dioxins; and metals including arsenic.
