Abstract The Record of Decision (ROD) presents the selected remedial actions for Operable Unit 3 at Forth Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. Operable Unit 3 comprises the following areas: the Tank Farm; the Railcar Off-Loading Facility; and Mileposts 2.7, 3.0, and 15.75 of the Fairbanks-Eielson Pipeline. The major components of the remedies are: In situ soil vapor extraction and air sparging of groundwater will be implemented to remove fuel-related contaminants to a level that attains Safe Drinking Water Act levels; and After achieving Safe Drinking Water Act levels, natural attenuation will be relied upon to attain Alaska Water Quality Standards.
