| Abstract |
At the scoping session of fluoroalkenes held by EPA on March 12 pursuant to the Federal Register notice of February 13, 1981, Dr. Henry Trochimowicz of DuPont advised the Agency that an inhalation toxicity study of tetrafluoroethylene is being conducted by Haskell Laboratory for the Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. Dr. Trochimowicz has recommended that the sponsors of the study (TFE producers) share reports of this research with the Agency, and they have agreed that the study protocol and the final reports of the three phases of the study should be forwarded to EPA. Enclosed are copies of the protocols and the final report from the acute study. Results of the 14-day subacute study are now being analyzed; the final report will be forwarded within a few months. The 90-day subchronic study is scheduled to begin in mid-May; therefore, results of this work will not be available for some time. Dose levels for the 90-day study will be 0, 200, 600, and 2000 ppm. |
