Abstract Section 1429 of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) authorizes the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator to make grants to the states for the development and implementation of programs that ensure the coordinated and comprehensive protection of ground water resources. Under this authority, EPA is also required every three years to evaluate funded state ground water protection programs and report to Congress on the status of ground water quality in the U. S. and the effectiveness of state progrms for protecting ground water. Section 1429 of the Safe Drinking Water Act requires EPA to prepare a Report to Congress on ground water protection programs.
