| Abstract |
Giardia detection methodology for water samples is relatively new, having been in existence for less than 10 years. Current methodology is based upon microscopic examination of concentrates from large volume water samples. This procedure is tedious and time-consuming and it fails to provide important information on the viability of detected cysts. The method for the 16th edition of Standard Methods is described along with the applications and limitations of the methodology. |
