Abstract |
The report is intended primarily to provide management and operating personnel in the canning industry a better understanding of the overall problems involved in handling fruit canning waste, and to acquaint them with implant practices which reduce waste volume and strength. Available methods of waste treatment, pollution prevention and nuisance abatement are discussed. This guide is also intended to acquaint sanitary engineers and regulatory personnel with the sources and nature of fruit canning wastes and with the progress that has been made in treatment of such wastes.
