Abstract Pregnant Dutch rabbits were exposed by inhalation to 450, 250, 100 or Oppm of EEAc in air for 6 hours per day on days 6 to 18 (inclusive) of gestation. Evidence of material toxicity (reduced bodyweight gain and food consumption) in the first few days of exposure were seen at all three exposure levels. At the post mortem examinations on day 21 of gestation evidence of foetotoxicity (reduced foetal weights) was seen at all three exposure levels and in addition, there was an increase in the incidence of intra-uterine deaths at 450ppm. There were no changes in clinical condition, haematological parameters or spleen weights in any of the EEAc exposed groups, and there were no macroscopic pathological abnormalities or external foetal abnormalities which could be attributed to exposure to EEAc.
