Abstract The technical bulletin is published pursuant to certain sections of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972, Public Law 92-500, enacted on October 18, 1972. The 1972 Amendments require the publication of information that will encourage waste treatment management which results in facilities for (1) The recycling of potential sewage pollutants through the production of agricultural, silvicultural, or aquacultural products; (2) The reclamation of wastewater; and (3) The elimination of the discharge of pollutants. The Amendments also require the consideration of alternative waste management techniques that provide the best practicable waste treatment technology over the life of the treatment works.
