Abstract |
This report documents the quality assurance activities that were undertaken for the SLAMS PM2.5 environmental data operations for the calendar years 2005, 2006 and 2007. The QA Report evaluates the adherence to the quality assurance requirements described in 40 CFR 58 App. A and evaluates the data quality indicators of precision, accuracy, bias, and completeness. This report mainly focuses on the monitor type designated as SLAMS in AQS. There are other monitoring organizations collecting PM2.5 that may or may not need to adhere to the QA requirements and at present, there is no transparent mechanism in AQS to identify (with the exception of SLAMS) the sites that are/are not meant to adhere to the QA requirements. An example of this are PM2.5 samplers operated by Tribes and reported as Tribal Monitors in AQS. Since the adherence to QA requirements is dependent on grant conditions, the monitors were not assessed for QA completeness, precision or bias. In 2009, we are planning on a revision to AQS to be able to report on all monitors that are required to meet CFR QA requirements. |
