Abstract In the study, the authors examined the effects of inorganic suspended sediment and food concentrations on energetic processes in adult zebra mussels. They also assessed the effects of food quality (inorganic to organic ratios in the food-sediment suspensions = IO ratios) on zebra mussel energetics and scope for growth and discuss some implications for growth of these organisms in a large turbid rivers.
