Abstract |
The document contains guidelines for the direct reduction route to steelmaking. It is meant to provide guidance to Governments and industry in the development and implementation of environmental protection policies. Process descriptions of mining and iron ore processing, direct reduction, and electric arc furnace steel making using direct reduced iron are presented. The environmental impacts and recommended pollution control strategies are also provided for each process. Air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, solid waste disposal, and heat stress are addressed. |
