Abstract The 20-acre Fadrowski Drum disposal site is an inactive industrial landfill within the city of Franklin, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. State investigations in 1981 identified evidence of improper disposal of solid wastes including crushed drums, and boiler and foundry wastes. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the soil, sediment, and debris are VOCs including toluene and xylenes; other organics including PAHs and pesticides including DDT; and metals including arsenic, chromium, and lead. The selected remedial action for the site includes excavating previously identified drums and 25 cubic yards of hazardous soil, and recycling, or treating and disposing of the drummed waste offsite; constructing trenches to locate and excavate additional containerized waste and the surrounding characteristically hazardous soil; and treating any contaminated soil onsite.
