Abstract |
The 2.3-acre Arlington Blending and Packaging site is an abandoned pesticide and herbicide blending and packaging facility in Arlington, Shelby County, Tennessee. Site operations have contaminated two units of the underlying aquifer, which are not used as drinking water sources. Site investigations revealed onsite and offsite contamination of soil and ground water. In 1983, EPA initiated a removal action, and excavated and removed 1,920 cubic yards of contaminated soil with chlordane levels in excess of 50 mg/kg and 112 drums containing chemical wastes. The Record of Decision (ROD) addresses final remediation of primarily pesticide-contaminated soil and ground water. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the soil, debris, and ground water are VOCs including benzene; other organics including pesticides; and metals including arsenic. The selected remedial action for the site is included. |
