| Abstract |
Daily oral administation of o,p'-DDD to dogs produced glucocorticoid deficiency. Blood pressure and heart contractile force and rate response to graded doses of epinephrine and norepinephrine were determined in treated and untreated dogs. Vasopressor and cardioaccelerator responses to ouabain were similar in treated and untreated dogs. The induced glucocorticoid deficiency produced little apparent direct circulatory effect but diminished the ability to withstand stressful procedures such as thoracotomy and multiple injections of vasopressor amines. |
