Abstract This guide is intended for use by small public water systems - those serving fewer than 10,000 people. It is specifically intended for small community water systems (CWS) and nontransient noncommunity water systems (NTNCWS) that add a chemical disinfectant or oxidant, such as chlorine, chloramines, ozone, or chlorine dioxide, as part of the drinking water treatment process. Finally, there are a limited number of requirements that apply to transient noncommunity water systems that add chlorine dioxide as part of their drinking water treatment process.
