Abstract The purpose of this study is to estimate the cost of a federal guidance proposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) limiting public exposure to radiofrequency (RF) radiation from the broadcast industry--the 9000 AM and FM radio stations and 1000 VHF-TV and UHF-TV broadcast stations in the U.S. The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory developed models that estimate a variety of cost at 18 alternative guidance levels for three kinds of economic analysis: the cost to society-at-large, the cost to the broadcast industry and the cost to and effect on net profit of the average broadcast station.
