| Abstract |
The report discusses the availability of natural gas data, sources of data, data deficiencies, and the cost of instituting a data bank. It has been proposed that a natural gas data bank be established using data sources which are credible, ongoing, providing a continuous data series, yielding specialized information, and sufficiently uniform for programming. The data bank will show the dynamic phases of natural gas supplies from potential resources to proved reserves and annual production. The computerized data will indicate the manner in which domestic and foreign supplies are linked to the U.S. markets and utilized by residential, commercial, electric utilities, industrial, and other consumer sectors within specific areas. Information pertinent to natural gas supply development rates, natural gas prices, current and future consumer demands, and sulfur quality evaluations will be entered in the data bank.
