| Abstract |
This volume is one of a series of six reports designed to provide the surface coal mining industry and its regulators with a comprehensive review of the best available methods for extracting this valuable mineral resource while protecting the fragile environment. The specific objective of this report is to summarize the regional coal geology and the related natural resources. The summary includes geomorphology, climate, water resources, and soils and will serve as a background for many of the hydrologic engineering and land use considerations in the other reports. |
