Abstract A method was developed for the determination of nitrobenzene, 2,4- and 2,6-dinitrotoluene (DNT), and isophorone in wastewaters. The methods developement program consisted of: a literature review, determination of the stability of the compounds in organic solutions, determination of extraction efficiency for each compound from water using two organic solvents, determination of storage stability of each compound in water, and evaluation of various clean up techniques.
