Abstract Scientists from five countries presented papers at the International Symposium on Fish Physiology, Toxicology, and Water Quality Management, which was held in Sacramento, California, on May 12-15, 2003. The proceedings includes 21 papers presented in sessions on the physiological effects of pollutants on fish, the uptake and depuration of toxicants by fish, and water quality management. Papers address the reproduction and growth of fishes, respiratory physiology, bioaccumulation of toxicants, microcosms, ecotoxicology, surface water quality including mine drainage, metal complexation and xenobiotics, and water quality models and management strategies.
