Abstract Nonchlorinated capacitor fluids are currently gaining favor as substitutes for the polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Isopropylbiphenyl (IBP) is believed to be used by an electrical manufacturer in its power capacitors.. To facilitate prediction of the impact of IBP in the aquatic environment, it's water solubility and air/water partition coefficient were determined in addition to its biodegradation and acute toxicity to aquatic organisms.
