Abstract |
The effects of 2,2-bis(4-(2,3-epoxypro pyloxy)phenyl)propane (EPPP) were evaluated on the integrity of DNA in the livers of groups of male and female albino Wistar rats (2/sex/group) orally exposed by gavage to a single dose of 500 mg EPPP/kg (diluted in DMSO, 20% (w/v)) or to 4000 mg/kg DMSO. The rats were sacrificed 6 hrs after treatment. EPPP failed to produce any detectable liver cell DNA strand damage (as measured by the alkaline elution assay which demonstrates single strand breaks and alkaline-labile sites in DNA) under the experimental conditions of thesetests. The fate of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBPA) was evaluated in six male CF1 mice receiving a single oral administration of(14C)DGEBPA at 55mg/kg. After treatment, animals were placed in metabolism cages and urine and feces were monitored daily for radioactivity. Animals were in groups of two on post treatment days 1, 3and 8. |
