Abstract The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing a new source performance standards (NSPS) that would apply to new stationary spark ignition (SI) internal combustion engines (ICE). New source performance standards implement section 111(b) of the Clean Air Act (CAA) and are issued for categories of sources that cause, or contribute significantly to, air pollution that may reasonably be anticipated to endanger public health or welfare. The standards apply to new stationary sources of emissions (i.e., sources whose construction, reconstruction, or modification begins after a standard for those sources is proposed). The NSPS for stationary SI ICE would be promulgated under 40 CFR part 60, subpart JJJJ.
