Abstract This decision document presents the selected remedy for the OU5 (groundwater) at the McIver Dump and Route 211 Areas of the Aberdeen Pesticide Dumps Site (the Site) in Aberdeen, North Carolina. The major components of the selected remedy for OU5 are: McIver Dump Area: Monitoring of natural attenutation in groundwater, surface water and sediments; Phytoremediation to enhance natural attenuation processes; Area reconnaissance; and Alternative water supply/well head treatment if future potential receptors are identified; and Route 211 Area--Groundwater extraction from 'source area groundwater' in the Surficial aquifer; Treatment of groundwater via carbon adsorption; Discharge of treated groundwater via re-injection infiltration galleries; Monitoring of the extraction, treatment and discharge systems; Monitoring of natural attenuation in all aquifers; Area reconnaissance; and Alternative water supply/well head treatment if future potential receptors are identified.
